SHOULD DRIVERS OF AUTOMOBILES BE PROHIBITED FROM USING MOBILE PHONES?

The issue of whether drivers should be prohibited from using mobile phone while driving is really an important one. Using mobile phones can cause damage not only to drivers but also other peole around them in different ways. They may hear bad news or can be surprised with what they have heard or cannot concentrate on driving and cannot notice traffic lights and as a result lose control of the vehicle and become a trouble on road.
Firstly drivers speaking on phone is physically distracted because receiving calls and dialling numbers require use of one hand and so they have to take control of car only one hand and that's too difficult. Also text messaging is quite common and that causes much more distraction as it requires their eyes to be off the road. That problem continues also with hands-free models. So using mobile phones while driving prevents drivers from concentrating on driving.
Moreover it is physcologically distracting for instance while driving drivers can hear bad news such as death of one of their relatives and after that it is difficult to concentrate on driving. They cannot notice traffic lights or other signals. They are much more interested in what they hear than what is going on on the road so it is likely to cause an accident. Also their connection can be cut off and while trying to hear from the opposite site it's impossible to concentrate on driving.
According to scientific studies the risk of collision while using mobile phones is four times higher than when it is not used.(the risk of a collision when using a cellular telephone was four times higher than the risk when a cellular telephone was not being used". )So it is illegal in most countries such as Italy, Japan. Moreover it is said that using mobile phones while driving is as distracting as speaking with somebody, eating fast food or trying to find a music tape or CD. (Holding a conversation on a cell phone while driving is no more distracting or different than talking to a passenger, eating fast food or fumbling for a music tape or CD.)
All in all with so much distracting effect drivers should be prohibited from using mobile phones while driving. It is an important step to decrease rate of traffic accidents and as a result death rate caused by accidents as not only that drivers but also passengers and other people on road are in danger.
